The journey2home project takes action locally in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, but also connects to a wider movement of positive action for those without a stable home. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act, an important piece of legislation that has “provided funding to programs tailored to the needs of homeless and unstably housed teens and young adults” (youthhomelessness.acf.hhs.gov). Friday was also World Homeless Day, an international event to “draw attention to homeless people’s needs locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness” (worldhomelessday.org).
We honored both of these landmarks at our dedication event on Friday by sharing stories, music, and artwork and taking photos of attendees with the #endyouthhomelessness hash tag (see the images below!).
